Rangers injury latest for Celtic as Michael Beale provides Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent update

Michael Beale has delivered an update on Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent ahead of the weekend clash with Celtic.

Rangers head for Hampden as the holders of the Scottish Cup trophy and they are going all out to end the season with the famous old prize still in their possession as they bid to win a first piece of silverware under the new management regime. A victory in Mount Florida would also end hopes of a domestic Treble for Ange Postecoglou's men with plenty at stake come Sunday lunchtime.

The Light Blues head into this game off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie. It was a first defeat for Beale to a club outside Celtic since his arrival in Govan as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's successor. The past couple of games he's had to make do without key defender Goldson and attacker Kent due to injury. He revealed his high hopes that they would return for this one last weekend ahead of the trip to face Barry Robson's side and he's now confirmed both have trained ahead of Hampden.

Speaking to the media ahead of facing Celtic, he said: "[Connor] Goldson, [Scott] Wright, [Ryan] Kent and [Alex] Lowry all trained. We just need to see how they react now and assess after returning today to training.

"Centre-back position has been very unstable throughout the season with injuries. Connor [Goldson] is a big character for our team and always nice to have him back. Stability in key positions is key."

He added: "It's a huge game we know that, it's been a rough ride this season for the fans. We need to bring the best of ourselves, games have been won and lost on mistakes - the penalty boxes will be decisive and we need to eradicate one or two errors.

"It will be a fantastic atmosphere that showcases Scottish football, a lot of noise and colour. It is a big opportunity as a player, this weekend is a big opportunity to reach a final.

"That will to win, that is what you sign up for coming here. We want to go and win the cup. We have to keep moving forward as a club."

On recruitment, he continued: "We are much clearer in the decisions we have to make this summer, we know the areas we need to improve and recruit. I think the progress has been made, there is a lot of harmony behind the scenes and I am really positive about the future.

"I've been busy, we've been working really hard on recruitment and are pleased with where things are going. My focus right now is purely on preparing the team for the weekend."
