Rangers 'improve offer' for ex-Aberdeen ace Connor Barron

Rangers have tabled an improved offer for Connor Barron, according to a report.

The Ibrox club has stepped up their interest in the midfielder, who is now a free agent following his departure from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen.

The Scotland Under-21 international rejected the chance to stay at Pittodrie in favor of moving elsewhere this summer.

One of Scotland's best young talents, he has a host of clubs after him, including Rangers, as well as teams in the English Championship and Serie A.

Hellas Verona are said to be keen, as well as Stoke City, Swansea City and Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle.

Philippe Clement is hopeful of persuading Barron that the next best step for him is to join his first team ranks at Ibrox.

The Belgian is looking to strengthen all areas of his team, but particularly in midfield after the release of John Lundstram and Ryan Jack.

The Daily Record reports that Rangers have upped the ante in their efforts to sign Barron, by offering him improved terms.

Barron would represent a boost to Rangers' homegrown quota, which is required by UEFA for their European competitions.

While Barron is out of contract, due to Aberdeen's development of the player through their academy, they will be due compensation.

If he moves outside of Scotland, this fee is guaranteed to be £525,000.

If it's to Rangers or any other Scottish side, then it will be up to the clubs to negotiate a transfer fee or face a tribunal to settle the matter.

Meanwhile, Rangers have reportedly made a bid for Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane.

Igamane can play on the wing as well as in the no.9 position and scored seven goals in 20 first-team games last season.

He has yet to be called up to the Morocco A team, however, is a regular for their Under-23s.
