Rangers fans have been told their numbers may be limited to just 500 for the glamour trip to face Borussia Dortmund.
The Europa League draw threw up a mouth-watering clash with the Bundesliga giants, with supporters dreaming of a trip to the 81,000-seater Westfalenstadion.
Rangers would have expected to take a huge following to see Gio van Bronckhorst's side test their mettle against the likes of Erling Haaland.
With Germany are now rolling back some of the regulations put in place for venues, fan hopes had been raised over a boost in numbers being given the green light to travel.
The 16 Federal State Chancelleries and the Federal Government have agreed to allow up to 50 per cent or a maximum of 10,000 fans for Bundesliga clubs.
Despite this, the Premiership champions are able to offer their support just 500 tickets.
A club statement read: "Rangers have been allocated 500 tickets for next Thursday’s UEFA Europa League tie at Borussia Dortmund.
"Capacity for the match has been set at 10,000, and while we share in our supporters’ disappointment at not having a larger allocation, we are pleased we will have some travelling fans in the stadium.
"MyGers members will shortly be invited by email to register for the ballot, and we expect demand to far outweigh supply for this match."
