Rangers hero Ally McCoist offers Scott Parker example for Steven Gerrard as he talks Poland job link

Ally McCoist believes Steven Gerrard is too young for international management and should take on a club job in Europe.

The former Rangers boss left Ibrox for a crack at the English Premier League with Aston Villa but his time at the club was brought to an end just shy of a year. He's been on the lookout every since for his next opportunity to get back into the dugout with Poland reported to be a potential destination for the Liverpool and England hero.

Gerrard ended Rangers' long wait for title No 55 and in doing so brought Celtic's hopes of achieving ten-in-a-row to an end with an unbeaten league campaign to lift the Premiership crown. His sides also performed well in the Europa League and became regulars at reaching the knockout stages of the competition. No club opportunity has came up as of yet for the out of work manager with McCoist pointing towards Scott Parker and his decision to move to Belgian club football as a potential avenue for the 42-year-old.

When asked if taking on an international gig was the best option, McCoist told talkSPORT: "No, I don't think so. Scott Parker just went to Brugge, didn't he? I said when Frank Lampard left Chelsea that I wouldn't have minded if he had gone to a European club. I think Steven could do the same somewhere in Europe.

"I don't know if this is an ageist thing to say but I think he is too young to do an international job. I know Roberto Martinez did it and now he's away to Portugal, he's relatively young. I just think Steven would want to get back into the day to day."
