Fashion Sakala has tested positive for Covid and faces a period of isolation before Rangers' match against Celtic.
The forward, 25, was due to line up for Zambia in their friendlies with Congo and Turkey.
But he has been ruled out of contention after returning a positive result.
Sakala was a half-time substitute at the weekend as Rangers came from behind to beat Dundee 2-1.
The final Old Firm clash before the split takes place in 11 days, therefore Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be hopeful that Sakala is available for selection when Ange Postecoglou’s side visit Ibrox.
But he won’t take part in either of his country’s games during the international break as he enters self-isolation.
The Zambian FA said on social media: "Scotland based Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala has been ruled out of the international friendly matches lined up during the FIFA window after testing positive for Covid-19.
"Sakala who is on the books of Glasgow Rangers was part of the 23 member squad named by Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic for Friday’s match against Congo Brazzaville will be in quarantine for seven days.
"FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the Association has written to Glasgow Rangers on the players’ status and was awaiting formal correspondence.
"Sakala was scheduled to travel directly to Antalya for the Chipolopolo outing but has since been ruled after the Covid-19 results came out positive."
