Rangers 'eyeing up' Dujon Sterling transfer from Chelsea as part of Michael Beale Ibrox rebuild

Rangers have been linked with a move for a second English Premier League defender.

Michael Beale is set for a big summer rebuild at the Light Blues with a number of players set to head out and come in as he looks to challenge Ange Postecoglou and Celtic. Arsenal stopper Auston Trusty has already been named as one the Ibrox men are keen on and now the Scottish Sun say they have eyes on Chelsea's Dujon Sterling.

The 23-year-old is out of contract after a season on loan at English Championship side Stoke City - who are keen on making the deal a permanent move. Beale knows Sterling from the time they spent together at the London club and hopes to hijack any move to the Potters.

Alfredo Morelos will be leaving the club in the summer with his contract up while Ryan Kent also looks increasingly likely to depart. Filip Helander, Steven Davis and Allan McGregor are out of contract but Ryan Jack is set to be offered a new one-year deal. Antonio Colak is another who could depart as part of the rebuild alongside Scott Wright and Jon McLaughlin.

Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Morgan Whittaker have all been mentioned as potential incomings.

Speaking about his future and where he will be playing his football next season, Sterling was coy on any update. Speaking last week, he said: “I’ll know by the end of May what I’m going to do next season. I’m not really talking about anything.

“I spoke to the club and I have a meeting with the gaffer on Saturday.

“For now they know my position and they respect that I don’t really want to talk about any ongoing contracts until I’m back from holiday.

“I have enjoyed my time here this season. We have a really good bunch of players and I think we could do something next season.”
