Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor has managed to hold on to a number of key players for the second half of the Lowland League season as a trio on loan from Scottish Premiership clubs extended their deals.
Rangers centre-back Harley Ewan, Dundee United defender Jacob Comerford and Motherwell midfielder Daniel Hunter have all signed up to stay on at the Broadwood club until the end of the season.
Motherwell announced Hunter’s extended loan, saying: “Daniel Hunter will remain on loan at Cumbernauld Colts until the end of the season.
“The midfielder has made seven appearances at the Lowland League side this season, scoring one goal which came on his debut.
“The 18-year-old joined Colts in the summer and extents his stay to continue his game time.”
The other two deals were confirmed on the Colts’ social media channels.
Meanwhile, Proctor’s side started January with mixed results.
They defeated East Stirlingshire 2-0 at home on Monday, January 4, thanks to goals from Billy Mortimer and Ewan MacPherson, but on Saturday they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Hearts B.
MacPherson struck in the sixth minute of stoppage time and it was too little too late, as Colts remain 14th in the table and two points behind Hearts.
This Saturday Colts host ninth-place Bo’ness United.
