Rangers 'considering' Cameron Humphreys move but face English competition for ex-Man City defender

Rangers are considering a move for former Manchester City defender Cameron Humphreys, according to reports.

The former England Under-19 international has plenty of transfer interest after allowing his contract at Zulte Waregem in Belgium run down.

Premiership new boys Bournemouth are said to be showing interest alongside English Championship duo Sheffield United and Stoke City.

The Daily Mail also state that Rangers are on the trail of the 23-year-old - who is a free agent.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to put his stamp on the Ibrox side as he gets ready for his first full season in charge.

He replaced Steven Gerrard mid-season and took Rangers to the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals.

They finished up just short in Seville losing out 5-4 on penalties to Frankfurt but they lifted domestic silverware with a 2-0 Hampden triumph over Hearts.

Rangers face two rounds of qualifying to join Celtic in the Champions League group stages and Van Bronckhorst will want to get his business done early.

Calvin Bassey is one being linked with a mega-money move away with teams in England and Germany said to be keen on the versatile stopper.

Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Leon Balogun and Connor Goldson's futures are yet to be resolved with the four starts out of contract this summer.

The latter looks set to leave while McGregor, 40, is making up his mind on whether to continue playing or hang up his gloves after a stunning career.
