Scottish Premiership clubs are reportedly set for crisis talks next week in the latest attempt to rubber-stamp a new £150m TV deal for Scottish football.
SPFL chiefs wants clubs round the table with Rangers and Livingston reportedly yet to respond to their 'Qualified Resolution' - which would remove the necessity for a waiver letter and needs a 11-1 majority. A deadline of October 2 was set but a meeting is primed to come first. That request from Neil Doncaster was made after the Ibrox side didn't ok the planned increase of home games broadcast live on Sky to five-per-season.
The Daily Mail state that decision stems from the long-running dispute over league sponsors cinch, and the desire for the league body to stump up for legal costs during arbitration. Sky want to extend their current deal to air Scottish football until 2019 and will pay £30m-per-season to air up to 60 games during each campaign. But the deal has still to be ratified with Rangers and Livingston yet to respond. However, every club in the lower leagues has backed it.
