Gutted Annan ace Tony Wallace claims Rangers slammed in the door in their faces when the League Two part-timers asked to swap jerseys.
A lucky fan got Aaron Ramsey’s jersey after sprinting onto the Galabank pitch at full-time while Iain Anderson was among a small number of Peter Murphy’s team who managed to blag a memento.
But Wallace says he was left empty handed after chapping the door to the away dressing room as he went in search of a keepsake for himself.
The former Morton midfielder - who joked on Twitter he’ll need to get his son a Gers top from 'from JJB' after being snubbed - said: “I never got one. I asked about six people but they said they couldn’t. They said a few boys had took them.
“That’s the only disappointing thing. You want something to show and you expect a club like that size to say, ‘You know what, every single person give your top away’.
“We’re disappointed. There’s a few boys who never got one and the kitman just kind of shut the door on us.
“They shut it but only two or three got the tops.
“You’d think a club like Rangers should be realising we might not get to play them again so give your tops away, let them have it. That’s disappointing for us.”
Wallace was hoping to grab Steven Davis’ jersey but his plea failed after Iain Anderson beat him to the Northern Ireland skipper.
And he says it’s not the first time he’s failed to get the shirt off the back of an Old Firm star.
“At Morton we played Celtic but that was the League Cup,” he said. “But as this is the Scottish Cup I’d say it was the biggest game of my career.
“It’s something that might not happen again, that’s why we wanted the top.
“It happened to me last time too. I asked for Adam Matthew’s jersey. He told me he’d give me it in the tunnel but I never got it.
“So I’ve got nothing to show from any of them.
“I asked for Davis’ but Ando had asked early doors and got it.”
Wallace walks away without the souvenir he was after.
But the 30-year-old says he will treasure the memories of taking on Scotland’s champions.
And while Murphy’s men were no match for the Ibrox side, Wallace reckons he scored a victory of his own after nutmegging four of the Light Blues’ big-name stars.
“It’s a disappointing result but I think we can be proud of how we did overall,” he said.
“I got three nutmegs in the first half and four altogether so I’m taking that as the only positive of the day.
“First was Davis, then somebody right after it who I can’t remember. Then it was Sakala and the fourth one was Scott Wright.
“So I’ll take that. I basically won 4-3!
“You want to do yourself proud and I think we did that.
“Obviously we’re disappointed with the manner of the goals but there’s a couple of nutmegs in there so I can be proud of that.”
