Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s career continues to thrive as he seeks his fourth Super Bowl title and first three-peat in 2024. Success didn’t come easily, nor was becoming a football star a guaranteed path for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, recently appeared on ‘The Mom Game Podcast’ with Julie Dobbs and Emily Jones. She discussed early in her son’s career when she questioned head coach Andy Reid’s strategy regarding Mahomes’ scrambling ability.
“Even the first couple years with the Chiefs, I would say I don’t think you’re supposed to do that, like scramble around, running around,” said Randi, “and he was like coach Reid [said] it works, do it. I’m like, okay, but I don’t think you’re supposed to do it, but okay.”
THE NFL WITHOUT PATRICK MAHOMES! 😱
We can’t fathom it now but it could have very much been a reality if mom didn’t know better! Randi Mahomes, showing us all, mom might just know best. 😉 #nfl #mom #momlife #parenting #youth #kidsinsports #highschoolfootball #txhsfb pic.twitter.com/vBPNI4s82f

Mahomes played multiple sports growing up, notably baseball and basketball, with football not initially his favorite. After the NFL Draft, Randi revealed that most of his extraordinary highlight ideas or moments came from playing video games.
