Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt wedding 'is happening tomorrow' confirms uncle Robin Bhatt

A new day calls for a new twist to the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt wedding story.

Shortly after Alia's brother Rahul Bhatt alleged that the wedding has been postponed due to "security reasons", uncle Robin Bhatt has now gone on record to state that everything is moving according to plan.

In his latest statement to Mid-Day, Bhatt said that he didn't know of any change in the wedding date, nor had he been informed of the same. "As far as I know, their wedding is happening on April 14 as scheduled," he said.

Reacting to Rahul's claims that the nuptials will be held next week, he said, "It's definitely not on April 20."

The buzz around the wedding has only grown over the last couple weeks, with tabloids running all sorts of contradictory reports. The Bhatt and Kapoor families, on the other hand, have maintained stoic silence on the subject, while maintaining that they "hope the wedding will happen soon."

Robin admitted that he didn't know the reason behind the family staying mum about the wedding. He also added that the marriage was rather "unusual" saying, "It's an unusual marriage because the children are taking all the decisions. It is their life, their marriage, and they know their minds. The elders are to [respect] their wishes and give their blessings."

If everything is going according to plan, then fans can expect the wedding festivities to kick off this evening. It had been reported that the stars will host their pre-wedding festivities from April 13, with the haldi, mehndi, sangeet and follow it up with an intimate wedding in the presence of close friends and family.

It has also been reported that the star couple will host a glitzy and glamorous wedding reception at a suburban five-star hotel.
