With a make-or-break November looming, the Rams appear to be taking every possible precaution to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Stafford will miss practice Wednesday, Los Angeles coach Sean McVay announced in a press conference Wednesday afternoon. The veteran remains day-to-day after suffering a UCL sprain during the Rams' 43-20 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
"You use all the time necessary for a player like him because of his obvious reps and experience," McVay told reporters.
Stafford, 35, has thrown eight touchdowns against seven interceptions in eight games this season—his third with Los Angeles since the Lions traded him in March 2021.
Sean McVay said Matthew Stafford (thumb) won't practice today, but they have not yet ruled out Stafford for Sunday's game against Packers.

Reiterates Stafford is still day-to-day.
Should Stafford's thumb hold him out, the Rams would presumably turn to backup quarterback Brett Rypien. Rypien, a fifth-year pro out of Boise State, completed five of 10 passes for 42 yards in relief of Stafford on Sunday.
Los Angeles will visit the Packers Sunday before back-to-back divisional games against the Seahawks and Cardinals.
