Rams’ Sean McVay Announces When He Thinks Matthew Stafford Will Return From Injury

After missing Week 9 due to a right thumb injury, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford may be closing in on a return to action in time for the team’s first game coming out of its bye week.

Rams coach Sean McVay announced on Monday the team currently expects Stafford, who suffered a UCL sprain versus the Cowboys in Week 8, to be cleared to play for Week 11 against the division-rival Seahawks (6–3).

McVay also shared that Stafford’s continued progress made it possible for the 35-year-old to resume throwing during individual drills at Monday’s unofficial practice.

Given the lingering questions surrounding his QB’s health, McVay’s updates suggest Stafford will likely be worked in slowly as the week progresses since the nagging injury occurred on his throwing hand

Should Stafford ultimately play on Sunday, the Super Bowl LVI champion will rejoin the fray at the helm of a 3–6 Rams squad hoping to go on a run to keep their season alive.

Despite ongoing rumors regarding retirement, Stafford’s level of play and sustained commitment to the game has led to another solid year for the 15-year pro thus far. In his eight starts, Stafford has logged 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
