The Los Angeles Rams could be in the market for a quarterback this offseason with John Wolford and Baker Mayfield becoming free agents, leaving the roster thin behind Matthew Stafford. The draft is a perfect place to find a young quarterback to develop and Purdue’s Aidan O’Connell could be one potential target.
According to Pro Football Network’s Ben Rolfe, who was in attendance for Purdue’s pro day, the Rams will meet with O’Connell on Thursday. The Rams are doing their due diligence with any pre-draft meeting and it’s not as if this is an official visit where O’Connell comes to Los Angeles, but it is worth noting.
Last season at Purdue, O’Connell threw 22 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions after tossing 28 touchdowns and 11 picks the year prior.
He played in a pro-style system at Purdue as opposed to the shotgun-heavy schemes we see so often in college, which could have him ready for the NFL game sooner than later.
