Rams’ Kyren Williams Placed on Injured Reserve Due to Ankle Injury

The Rams’ backfield will reportedly carry on without its anchor for the foreseeable future after placing running back Kyren Williams on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday

Williams, 23, was already slated to miss the Rams’ Week 7 game against the Steelers, and will now miss at least the next four games due to an ankle injury. Los Angeles will promote veteran Darrell Henderson from the practice squad to help fill the void.

Saturday’s update deals a devastating blow to the Rams’ lineup (and fantasy football managers) following a week where Williams missed every practice with an ankle sprain he sustained in his career-best outing in Week 6.

The second-year breakout rushed 20 times for 158 yards and a touchdown in a 26–9 win over the Cardinals. After exiting in the fourth quarter, Williams’s status immediately came into question after he was diagnosed with an ankle sprain.

With Williams not eligible to return until Week 12, the Rams (3–3) will have to find a way to make up for the production in what has been a breakout year for the 2022 fifth-round pick.

In six games this season, Williams has logged 456 yards and six touchdowns and 13 receptions for 105 yards and a receiving score, tying for the third-most total scores in the NFL with seven.
