The Los Angeles Rams have a new tight ends coach for the 2023 season. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, they’re hiring former Patriots TEs coach Nick Caley for the same job on Sean McVay’s staff.
Thomas Brown coached the tight ends last season, while also working as the assistant head coach. Midway through the season, he went back to coaching the running backs, too.
Caley, 40, was one of the Patriots’ top assistant coaches this offseason, interviewing for the offensive coordinator jobs in New England, Houston and with the Jets. Rather than becoming an OC, he’ll join the Rams in a role that McVay views as a very important one.
Caley had been with the Patriots since 2015, starting out as an offensive assistant for the first two years before coaching the tight ends for the last six seasons. Caley also coached the fullbacks in 2020-2021.
The Rams are hiring ex-Patriots TEs coach Nick Caley as their new tight ends coach, per sources. Caley interviewed for OC jobs with the Pats, Jets and Texans, and had inquiries for other jobs, but saw the Rams as the best fit.
Sean McVay adds a rising, young coach to his staff.
