Rams, 49ers and Cardinals all showing interest in Bobby Wagner

Bobby Wagner was surprisingly cut by the Seahawks this week, just days after Seattle agreed to trade Russell Wilson to the Broncos. He immediately became the top inside linebacker on the free-agent market and can sign with any team right away.

The Rams could use help at that position, and they’re already showing interest in the eight-time Pro Bowler. According to Ian Rapoport, Wagner could stay in the NFC West with all three of the Seahawks’ rivals being interested in signing him.

“Do not be surprised if he actually stays in the division,” Rapoport said on NFL Network. “There’s already interest in Wagner, who was just released a couple hours ago officially – there’s already interest in Wagner from three teams that he played against twice a year while he was in Seattle.”

Rapoport didn’t specifically say the Rams, but there are only three teams Wagner faced twice a year with the Seahawks: the Rams, 49ers and Cardinals. And it seems all three of them are interested in keeping the linebacker in the NFC West.

Because Wagner was released and his contract didn’t expire like other pending free agents, he doesn’t have to wait until March 16 to sign.
