Ralf Rangnick sent Cristiano Ronaldo warning amid Marcus Rashford's Manchester United form

Former Manchester United loanee Garth Crooks has urged interim manager Ralf Rangnick to not "pander to the whims" of Cristiano Ronaldo, instead telling him to make the most of everyone within his squad.

The Final Score pundit made the admission following United's dramatic 1-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, in which Marcus Rashford, who has been named in Crooks' Team of the Week, netted a 93rd minute winner to lift the Reds back into the top-four.

Rashford, for the second time in as many games, stepped off the bench to score, meaning he has given Rangnick food for thought ahead of United resuming their campaign against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round on February 4.

Rashford, following a mixture of injury issues and poor form, has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth in recent weeks, but his goals against Brentford and West Ham have bolstered his chances of becoming a more regular fixture once again.

However, Crooks believes Rashford's progression at United has been derailed by Ronaldo's return to the club, insisting Rangnick can no longer focus his plans around the Portugal international.

Crooks told BBC Sport : "The England striker has been singled out on a number of occasions regarding his general attitude with questions raised about his contribution in games.

"I must say that I don't think the arrival of Ronaldo has helped matters but this week Rashford came on as substitute against Brentford and West Ham and his attitude was nothing short of outstanding. In both fixtures he quickly put the games to bed within minutes of his arrival.

"If Ralf Rangnick can utilise every member of his exceptional squad to maximum effect and not pander to the whims of Ronaldo anything is possible at United."
