RAJKOT: A 37-year-old woman was raped multiple times by a loan shark in Gujarat's Rajkot after her husband failed to pay the interest amount.
She was also threatened that if she didn't obey the demand, her children would be killed.
The Rajkot taluka police booked Deepak Vagadiya, a resident of Mavdi area, following the complaint registered by the rape survivor.
According to the complaint, the rape survivor, a mother of two, had been raped multiple times since January.
Her husband is an auto driver who borrowed Rs 50,000 from one Ajitsinh Chavda in 2021 with the daily interest of Rs 1,500.
The couple was paying regular interest till January 2022, but thereafter because of some uncontrolled expense, they could not pay regular interest.
Vagadiya — who was a friend and partner of Chavda and was often visiting their home — threatened them and demanded they repay the loan with hefty interest.
When the couple demanded more time, Vagadiya allegedly threatened to kidnap the rape survivor and frame her husband in a fake case and send him to jail.
He also claimed that his cousin was a police inspector and police would not register their complaint.
According to the complaint, one day Vagadiya visited the couple's home when she was alone and started making sexual advances against her wish.
He also told her that if her husband was not in the position to pay the money, she would have to keep sexual relations with him in order to see her family safe.
The complainant alleged that they had paid back Rs 50,000 along with interest, but they were told to pay 50,000 more and were harassed.
She was also taken to Chotila, Diu and raped.
She was also raped in a hotel of Rajkot once.
