Rajat Patidar celebrates his birthday on June 1, and in 2026, the occasion feels even more special as it comes right after a historic season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. Having led the team to a remarkable title-winning campaign, Patidar’s journey from a quiet performer to a match-winning captain has made his birthday a moment of pride for fans. Known for his calm leadership and impactful batting, he continues to rise as one of India’s most promising cricket stars, making this birthday not just a celebration of age, but of achievement and growing legacy.

Historic Win for RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar expressed immense joy after guiding his team to their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title. RCB defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the 2026 final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

With this triumph, RCB joined an elite list of teams, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, that have successfully defended their IPL titles.

Clinical Chase Seals Victory

After restricting Gujarat Titans to 155/8 in the first innings, RCB comfortably chased down the target with two overs to spare and five wickets in hand. The decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved to be a key factor in their success.

Speaking after the match, Patidar said the win felt “superb” and credited the team’s clear planning and execution.

Bowling Unit Shines Throughout Season

Patidar highlighted the crucial role played by RCB’s bowlers across the tournament. He praised the consistent performances of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar, Krunal Pandya, Suyash Sharma, and Romario Shepherd.

RCB’s bowling attack was a standout strength this season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with 28 wickets, while Rasikh Salam Dar picked up 19. Josh Hazlewood contributed 15 wickets, and Krunal Pandya added 14 to the tally.

A Dream Come True for Patidar

Reflecting on his journey, Patidar admitted that captaining RCB and lifting the trophy was beyond what he had imagined. He spoke about the confidence gained from the previous season, the unwavering support from fans, and the valuable guidance from batting coach Dinesh Karthik.

"I never dreamt of becoming the captain of RCB and lifting the trophy. I think it was written. Grateful for that. We were slightly more confident than last year. Everywhere it felt like a home ground for us with the fans coming in. The pre tournament prep was very good for me. I tried to analyze which shots are good for me. I got so many inputs from DK, which were helpful for me. He (Virat Kohli) is always there for the team. This one is for you again, RCB fans. Ee Sala nu Cup Namdu," he added.

Team Effort and Leadership Support

Patidar also acknowledged the constant presence and support of Virat Kohli within the team setup, emphasizing the strong environment that contributed to their success.

The victory was ultimately dedicated to RCB’s passionate fanbase, marking yet another memorable chapter in the franchise’s history.
