The decision followed detailed discussions involving players, coaches and team management to ensure alignment on leadership direction and team culture as the Royals build toward the 2026 season and beyond.
A product of the Royals’ development system, Parag is among the franchise’s longest-serving Indian players, having been part of the set-up since IPL 2019. Over the years, he has evolved from a teenage recruit into a core member of the squad and an influential presence in the dressing room. His elevation to captain reflects both his growth as a cricketer and his emergence as a leader within the group.
The franchise emphasised that Parag will be supported by a strong leadership core within the squad, with experienced players forming part of a broader player leadership structure designed to guide the team through the upcoming season.
