JAIPUR: The state education department has issued guidelines for schools to study and observe the ‘behaviour’ of students in order to bring behavioural changes in students. This is the first-of-its-kind initiative by the department to identify students on the basis of their behaviour keeping in view cases of bullying and violence .
The idea was initiated by the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research & Training, Udaipur, for the children’s holistic development. Every teacher is in a position to correctly evaluate students. “Teachers have been directed to observe students’ behaviours on several parameters. If they find that a student’s behaviour is meeting the required standards, teachers have to intervene by counselling them,” said a government official.
Experts say family and school impact behaviour of children. “If the child is not social or displaying a bully nature, the teachers have to prove it by counselling the children and parents,” said an official. The orders for the same were released by the director of education, Bikaner, Kanha Ram. Sources said that from next year, the school syllabus will have content creating awareness of laws that are central to child rights. Meanwhile, the state education department has again started the ‘Garima Peti’ in every school for students to drop complaints.
