RAIPUR: In a spectacular display of strength and skill, women weightlifters from Raipur have emerged as the champions at the Khelo India Women League Weightlifting State Championship.
The talented athletes from the city secured an impressive nine medals, with three of them being gold.
Lukeshwari Sahu, Vidhi Sahu, and Priyanka Sahu were the star performers, clinching gold medals in their respective weight categories. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they proudly stood atop the podium.
Charanjeet Kaur, Anjali Sahu, and Sanjana Singh showcased their prowess by securing silver medals, while Pranjali Tiwari, Megha Pal, and Divya Sinha bagged bronze medals, further solidifying Raipur's dominance in the competition.
Representing the Raipur Municipal Corporation, Kajal Sahu also shone brightly, winning a gold medal. Similarly, Soumya Maurya brought glory to the Bilaspur Municipal Corporation with her own gold medal.
Rajnandgaon district also had reason to celebrate as two of their athletes, Sonali Yadu and Ekta Banjara, secured one gold medal each. The gold rush didn't stop there, with Veena Thakur from Dallirajhara, Lachhvantin Kosle from Gariaband, and Shipra Biswas from Dantewada all claiming gold medals in their respective categories.
The championship witnessed fierce competition with a total of 85 women weightlifters from across the state vying for top honors. In the end, they collectively carried home an impressive haul of 10 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.
