The professional cricket career of former Australian Test batsman Shaun Marsh has ended in a washout that also condemned the Sydney Thunder to the Big Bash League's wooden spoon.

Marsh was due to sign off with his Melbourne Renegades side on Wednesday but relentless rain in the harbour city meant play was unable to go ahead at the Sydney Showground.
