A trailer for Bristol-filmed HBO series Rain Dogs has been released. The upcoming dramedy series, which will be released on March 6, stars West Country actress Daisy May Cooper as working class single mum Costello Jones, who is fighting for her daughter Iris to have a better life.
An official synopsis for the series reads: "From the brilliant new voice of Cash Carraway, Rain Dogs is an unconventional love story between a working class single mum, her 10-year-old daughter, and a privileged gay man.
"The dark comedy stars Daisy May Cooper as Costello Jones, Jack Farthing as Selby, Ronke Adekoluejo as Gloria, Adrian Edmondson as Lenny and Fleur Tashjian as Iris in her debut role, as a dysfunctional family on the fringes of society attempting to go straight in a crooked world."

Last night, a trailer for Rain Dogs was released, and sees Costello and Iris flee their London flat as men in black suits bang on their door to serve them an eviction notice. The mum-and-daughter duo then smash the window of a car to break in as the rain pours down, and spend nights sleeping in the most uncomfortable places, including a laundrette.
After promising Iris that she will "write [them] out of this", Costello reunites with Selby, a former convict, who is gay. Chaos is never too far from the three of them, as Selby becomes another parental figure for ten-year-old Iris.
"It's completely normal to hate the people you love," Selby says, as Costello responds to her daughter's question about whether her mum would ever lie to her by teling her: "Yeah, of course I would. I love you."
Just like Costello, Cash was desperate to give her daughter a better life by visiting food banks and women's shelters, according to AVClub.
Cash said in a statement: "I wanted to create a working-class protagonist who doesn’t die easily in her attempts to ‘rise to the top’ yet who is stunted by scrutiny, public ridicule, and gatekeepers due to her socio-economic status. Rain Dogs is your classic transformation story, only Costello Jones is trapped in circumstances where she’s not allowed to change. It isn’t autobiographical, but it definitely has firm roots in the chip on my shoulder!"
Rain Dogs was made at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol and filmed across the city with the assistance of Bristol Film Office. The funny yet moving drama was produced by Sid Gentle Films, the company behind Killing Eve, and will be released on HBO Max and BBC iPlayer on March 6.
