Day four of the Australian Open has got off to a soggy start, with play delayed on the outside courts for more than three hours because of heavy overnight and morning rain in Melbourne.
The only match that began at 11am (AEDT) on Wednesday was the second-round women's singles encounter between 2018 Open champ Caroline Wozniacki and Russian qualifier Maria Timofeeva under the roof on John Cain Arena.
Play began on the other two covered show courts - Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena - on schedule at midday.
With rain clearing by the early afternoon, action got under way on the outside courts shortly after 2pm.
There are five Australians involved in second-round singles action on Wednesday - men's No.10 seed Alex de Minaur, Alexei Popyrin, Jordan Thompson, Chris O'Connell and Storm Hunter.
