THE Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for snow and rain covering almost all of Scotland.
The warning will come into force from 8am on December 30 and remain in place until 11.59pm.
It covers almost the entirety of the north of Scotland, including cities such as Aberdeen, Dundee and Perth.
The warning currently doesn't cover Glasgow or Edinburgh, as well as a number of other towns across the central belt.
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office says:
- There is a small chance power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
- There is a slight chance some rural communities could become cut off
- There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel
The yellow warning covering the south and south west of Scotland is only in place until 3pm on December 30.

Jim Dale of the British Weather Services has encouraged anyone planning to travel on New Year’s Eve “to do so sooner rather than later”.
