PASSENGERS are being warned of delays as a number of services between Scotland and England are facing disruption.
Network Rail confirmed “major disruption” is expected between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed until 8pm on Tuesday.
The disruption is due to a fault on a train between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed which has led to all lines being blocked.
A freight train has an issue with a wagon curtain between Reston and Berwick-upon-Tweed making the train unsafe.
Network Rail confirmed staff are currently on site.
As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 180 minutes.
The following routes are affected as a result:
- CrossCountry between Aberdeen and Plymouth, and also between Edinburgh and Birmingham New Street / Bristol Temple Meads / Plymouth / Penzance
- LNER between Inverness / Aberdeen / Stirling / Edinburgh and London Kings Cross
- Lumo between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross
- TransPennine Express between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed / Newcastle
Network Rail has advised passengers to check their journeys before they travel and to allow extra time.
Passengers may be entitled to compensation if they experience a delay.
