Once again, Hunter Renfrow was non-existent for the Raiders. In a game where the Raiders threw 45 passes, Renfrow saw just three targets. He finished the game with two receptions for 14 yards and has yet to have a game with more than 23 yards all season long.
It’s clear as day that Renfrow is not in the long-term plans for the Raiders. And with the NFL trade deadline just a week away, it seems more than likely that the Raiders will move him. But what team could be interested in the services of the former Pro Bowl receiver?
In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, Brad Spielberger suggested the Jets as a possible trade target for Renfrow. With Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard clearly struggling, Renfrow would be a massive upgrade in the slot for New York. Here is what he had to say about a possible trade:
Renfrow would still represent a nice upgrade for the Jets in the slot. Among 89 wide receivers with at least 100 offensive snaps, Randall Cobb’s 0.15 yards per route run ranks dead last by nearly triple the next lowest mark. Cobb has caught 60% of passes deemed catchable, also last in this group, with his 40% drop rate double the next worst mark.
Could the Raiders get back Carl Lawson in a trade? Or would they be more interested in a late-round pick swap? That is still up in the air, but Renfrow to the Jets does make a lot of sense. Expect to see some movement on a potential trade over the next few days.
