Cornerback might be the biggest need for the Raiders going into the 2024 offseason. The team just released Marcus Peters, who started 12 games for the Raiders this year. Nate Hobbs is entering the final year of his contract in 2024 and they severely lack depth.
The good news for the Raiders is that the 2024 NFL Draft class is loaded with cornerback talent. But who might be the best player available at the cornerback position when the Raiders are on the clock?
In a recent mock draft by Dane Brugler of The Athletic, he has the Raiders selecting Clemson CB Nate Wiggins with the No. 11 pick. Here is what Brugler had to say about that selection:
Although he needs to continue getting stronger, Wiggins has an outstanding combination of speed and length with the sudden feet to stay attached to receivers. The Raiders also will be an obvious candidate to trade up for one of the quarterbacks in this class.
Kool-Aid McKinstry and Kalen King are other cornerbacks who could be in the conversation for the Raiders in Round 1. But the athleticism and size of Wiggins might be too much for Las Vegas to pass up on in next year’s draft.
Expect the Raiders to do a lot of work scouting the top cornerbacks this offseason as it’s a clear need going into 2024.
