Raiders RB Josh Jacobs won’t report for offseason workouts

The Raiders kicked off their offseason workouts this week and there was one very prominent player missing; All-Pro RB Josh Jacobs.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Jacobs won’t report for the (voluntary) offseason workouts as he has yet to sign his franchise tag. The hope for both sides is that a long-term deal can eventually be worked out so Jacobs doesn’t have to play on the tag.

Jacobs not showing up for off-season workouts isn’t something to be concerned about. It’s important to remember that these are voluntary and that Jacobs is still working out on his own. But until he signs the tag or has a new contract, don’t expect him to be in the building anytime soon.

Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,653 yards last season and led the league in touches (393) and yards from scrimmage (2,053). He’s only 25 years old with just 1,531 career touches in the NFL and college combined.
