Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby drew praise for playing in Week 12’s matchup against the Chiefs despite being listed as doubtful going into the game.
Crosby required hospitalization for the injury due to infections, which indicates how seriously the knee injury was. After the 31–17 loss to Kansas City, he also told reporters that he ”was in a lot of f—--g pain.”
To emphasize the point, Crosby provided a photo to illustrate how nasty his knee injury looked during the latest episode of his podcast, The Rush With Maxx Crosby.
“My knee had some fluid build-up,” Crosby explained. “The s— was blown up like a balloon. And I wake up the next morning and I f—--g almost pass out. I felt like I was dying.”

The two-time Pro Bowler added that he was taken to the hospital after bacteria was found in the fluid drawn from his left knee. Based on the photo he provided, Crosby was not exaggerating about his condition.
Despite his injury, Crosby still made an impact in the Week 12 game by sacking Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs quarterback praised Crosby when asked about him during his postgame press conference.
“He’s at the top of the list; he’s a dawg, man,” Mahomes said. “The fact that he played today, it speaks to who he is. Not just because it was against us, but he wants to be out there for his teammates.”
