Raiders DE Maxx Crosby projected to earn $27M per year with new contract

After a Pro Bowl season, it’s time for Maxx Crosby to get paid. He led the NFL in pressures, hurries and QB hits last season and has only gotten better since he was drafted in 2019.

Going into 2022, Crosby is entering the final year of his deal. That means it’s time for the Raiders to get serious about paying their top defender. But what type of contract could Crosby earn this offseason?

According to Pro Football Focus, they are projecting him to earn around $27 million per year over five years. Their projection has Crosby signing a five-year deal worth $136.25 million.

If the Raiders were to sign Crosby to a deal such as this one, that would make him the second-highest-paid EDGE defender in the league (by yearly salary) only behind T.J. Watt ($28 million).

Joey Bosa of the Chargers signed a deal two years ago that paid him $27 million per year and Crosby has outperformed him during that time. It seems very unlikely that Crosby would sign a deal where he earns less than Bosa this offseason.

It’s going to cost a lot for the Raiders to lock down Crosby, but he deserves it. He’s only 24 years old and his best football is still ahead of him. That should be a terrifying thought for quarterbacks around the NFL.
