NFL free agency is set to kick off at 12:00 PM ET on Monday and one of the top free agents on the market is Rock Ya-Sin. The former second-round pick from Temple had a solid year for the Raiders in 2022 and now is among the top cornerbacks set to be available.
But will the Raiders be able to retain Ya-Sin now that he’s on the open market? That might be difficult as he should garner a ton of interest from other teams. Here is what Matt Bowen of ESPN thinks of Ya-Sin and his market entering the week:
I anticipate a stronger-than-expected market for Ya-Sin, despite the fact that he has just two interceptions over his four pro seasons. With press-man traits, zone awareness and a competitive playing style, he is a physical corner who can disrupt at the line of scrimmage and tackle.
The 2019 second-round pick had seven pass breakups last season, and he allowed just one touchdown catch as the nearest defender in coverage, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
Finding good cornerbacks has been an issue for the Raiders over the last several years, so letting Ya-Sin leave would be an issue if they can’t properly replace him. But expect the Raiders to be aggressive in trying to retain him as he and Nate Hobbs were a pretty solid duo last year.
