The Raiders have had a lot of disappointing losses during the Josh McDaniels era. The loss to Baker Mayfield and the Rams was pretty tough. Their loss to Jeff Saturday and the Colts last season might have been worse. But their Week 7 loss to the Bears on Sunday takes the cake.
Facing an undrafted free-agent quarterback making his first career start, the Raiders were embarrassed in Chicago. The offense scored just six points and allowed nearly 200 rushing yards to the Bears, who were without their top two leading rushers.
With a chance to improve to 4-3 and get over .500 for the first time since Week 1, the Raiders now sit at 3-4 as they have one of the NFL’s worst offenses. They scored 12 points on Sunday, but six of which came under the two-minute warning with both teams playing backups.
Brian Hoyer was a disaster and he was eventually benched for Aidan O’Connell after throwing a pick-six. Hoyer averaged just 4.0 yards per attempt and had a passer rating of 37. He has now lost 13 straight starts, the longest active streak in the NFL.
The Raiders will travel to Detroit to take on the Lions on Monday Night Football in Week 8. The expectation is that Jimmy Garoppolo will be back for that game and they need him after how poorly the other two quarterbacks performed on Sunday.
