Raiders announce signing of free-agent LB Kyler Fackrell

The Raiders continue to add depth to their defense through free agency. On Monday, they announced that they have signed former Broncos linebacker Micah Kiser to a one-year deal. But he wasn’t the only linebacker the team brought in on Monday.

The Raiders announced that they have officially signed free-agent linebacker Kyler Fackrell to a one-year deal.

Fackrell has mostly played as a 3-4 outside linebacker, but he has the position flexibility to play multiple positions on defense.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Pro Football Network, the deal is worth $1.18 million with over a million in guaranteed money. Essentially, it’s the veteran minimum for a player of his stature.

Fackrell has experience playing under new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham as he went the 2020 season in New York. Fackrell was originally a third-round pick by the Packers in the 2016 NFL Draft and has since totaled 23.5 sacks in his career.

Fackrell does have a ton of special teams experience and that could be the biggest reason why the team brought him in. But given his experience in the scheme, he isn’t a bad player to bring along to help implement Graham’s defense.

Since being drafted in 2016, Fackrell has appeared in 86 games and has been a starter in 19 contests. His best season came in 2018 when he recorded 10.5 sacks with the Packers.
