For the ninth time in John Jenkins’s career, he will don a new uniform. The journeyman veteran defensive tackle has signed on with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 33-year-old enters his 11th season in the NFL, having played for five different teams.
Jenkins entered the NFL as a 3rd round pick by the New Orleans Saints out of Georgia. Since then he’s played with the Seahawks, Giants, two stints with the Bears, and three stints with the Dolphins.
The 6-3, 335-pounder has played in 116 career games with 30 starts. Just four of his 11 seasons he appeared in 14 games or more and just three times has he compiled 30 or more tackles, the last time being 2019 with the Dolphins.
Jenkins is the first interior defensive lineman the Raiders have added this offseason.
If they’re serious about upgrading the interior defensive line — and there’s no real indication of that thus far — Jenkins will be a hard pressed to make the team, let alone see significant playing time.
