Raheem Sterling is finalising a move to Chelsea after Manchester City agreed a fee to allow him to move to Stamford Bridge.
As the Manchester Evening News previously reported, Chelsea's new owner Todd Boehly opted to negotiate privately with City over the fee so as not to haggle publicly with money or see bids rejected for a player he wanted to make his first statement signing at the club. And after more than a week of negotiations, the Blues have waved through an offer of £47.5m to grant the 27-year-old a move he concluded that he wanted as he weighed up his options with 12 months left on his deal at the Etihad.
Sterling has been an integral part of Pep Guardiola's success in Manchester but was convinced by Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel that he can have a more important role in West London than he could if he stayed at City — who are bringing in forwards Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez for the coming season. He will sign a five-year deal at Chelsea with the option of a further year.
