Patrick Mahomes is having yet another one of his MVP-type seasons in 2022. Through 10 games, Mahomes has a league-high 3,265 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes, only nine touchdowns shy of his 2021 total.
The Rams will be challenged by Mahomes in a big way this weekend when they visit the Chiefs, hoping to save their season by snapping their four-game winning streak. Raheem Morris knows how difficult it is to defend Mahomes, using a unique way to describe the four-time Pro Bowler.
Morris called Mahomes “an alien,” using that same description for tight end Travis Kelce.
The quarterback is an alien. Let’s be honest, like, he’s an alien,” Morris said. “They also have an alien at tight end. The rest of the guys are playing their butts off and they’re doing a nice job just from that standpoint. This team is extremely hard and difficult to prepare for and plan for. But you got to go out there and like every other week, stop the run. You got to go out there and lock down and take away what you want to take away in that particular play, limit those guys to explosives and have the ability to try to get the ball back.”
Kelce is having a fantastic season of his own, ranking seventh in the NFL with 855 yards receiving on 69 receptions. He also leads the league with 11 touchdown catches and is on pace for his seventh straight 1,000-yard season – a remarkable feat for a tight end.
Mahomes and Kelce are the two cogs that make this Chiefs offense go so you can be sure Morris will have his players focused on slowing down that tandem this Sunday.
