Raging Johnstone dad finds himself in hot water after calling fiancé a "f*****g cow" and wrecking spa

A Johnstone dad found himself in hot water after calling his fiancé a “f*****g cow” and bursting the family hot tub.

Mark Lafferty, 35, spent the day drinking with his wife-to-be when things steamed up and Lafferty didn’t take a joke in good faith.

The cleaner blew a fuse and began making derogatory remarks towards his partner and smashed bottles before going on to burst the hot tub on July 12.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, Lafferty, of Willow Drive, admitted the drunken antics that unfolded in front of friends and family.

Tracy Wright, fiscal depute, told the court Lafferty and Emma Crawford have been in a relationship for six years and are engaged to be married.

Ms Wright explained: “Crawford and the accused were in the garden drinking alcohol and all were in good spirits.

“Around 7.20pm, Crawford, the accused and friends were in the hot tub when Crawford made a playful joke that the accused misunderstood and didn’t appreciate.

“His behaviour escalated and he began to shout and swear.

“Towards Crawford, he stated, ‘You fat f*****g s**t, ‘you f*****g cow,’ and called her a ‘s**g.’

“He then stated, ‘And what the f**k do you think you’re doing?’

“Crawford asked the accused to leave and he refused.

“Another witness contacted police around 7.30pm.

“A short time later Lafferty left the property and continued to shout and swear in the street.

“He then picked up a glass bottle of alcohol and began to smash it outside in the street.

“Ms Crawford placed the accused’s clothes outside the front door and instructed him to leave when he ran towards her shouting, ‘F**k up you ginger c**t.’”

The court heard fuming Lafferty made attempts to get back into the house but miserably failed.

Ms Wright added: “Lafferty then damaged the hot tub in the garden, resulting in it bursting.

“Police arrived and later traced the accused a week later where he made no reply to caution and charge.”

Charlie McCusker, defence solicitor, told the court this was “a good day gone wrong” and that Lafferty recognises his behaviour was unacceptable.

Mr McCusker added: “Lafferty’s partner had forgiven him the following day.

“They had been drinking for a long period, starting in the afternoon into the evening, and things were in high spirits.

“The couple want to be together and the family are keen to have him back home.

“He accepts full responsibility and is suitably ashamed.”

Sheriff Suhkwinder Gill said: "This isn’t a good start towards your marriage” and deferred sentence for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report.

Lafferty was granted bail and will return to court for sentencing on September 5.
