Rafael Nadal is seeking a record 21st Grand Slam title as he takes on Daniil Medvedev in the men’s singles final at the Australian Open this weekend.

Nadal sits level with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic as the most successful male player in Grand Slam history and can go clear should he topple the Russian and win only his second Australian Open title, 13 years after his first.

Medvedev came into the tournament as the No2 seed but was effectively its topped ranked player following the enforced withdrawal of world No1 Novak Djokovic.

The 25-year-old was beaten by Djokovic in the 12 months ago but went on to win his first Major title when denying Djokovic a calendar year Grand Slam at the US Open in September.

Date, venue and UK start time 

The 2022 Australian Open men’s singles final will take place on Sunday, January 30, and is due to start at 8:30am GMT.

The match will be played on Melbourne Park’s main showcourt, the Rod Laver Arena.
