Radio stars PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe prepare to cycle together for Jack and Jill Foundation

Radio stars PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe have pledged to get on their bike in a bid to raise money for a children’s charity.

The Radio Nova pair are planning to cycle 30km on a tandem bike from Croke Park to Howth Head to raise money for the Jack and Jill Foundation.

Speaking of his upcoming ‘Hill to Hill’ challenge, PJ said: “The Jack and Jill Foundation do incredible work and we were so blown away by the support for the cycle last year that we decided to double it and do it all again, only harder, with the two of us on one bike and twice the distance. It will be nice to have some company this year, with Jim as my backseat driver.”

Jim said of taking more of a central role this year, saying: “I figured PJ would need the moral support given the scale of this year’s challenge. He gave me a lot of stick for just commenting last year, so I’m looking forward to showing him how it’s done this year.”

Last year, the comedian took on half the distance on a PennyFarthing and set a foundation record for fundraising as his co-host “slagged him off for being in lycra” from the sideline. This year, McCabe has been roped in “as karma.”

The Jack and Jill Foundation’s “Hill-O-ween” fundraising effort is taking place all over Ireland on Friday, October 28 to raise money in support of families with sick children across the country.

CEO Carmel Doyle hopes PJ and Jim’s efforts “will inspire others to take on their own hill this October in solidarity with our families who face the ongoing uphill challenge of caring for their very sick child, day in, day out.”

The launch marks a month of activity around Jack and Jill ‘Hill to Hill’ Challenges, culminating on Friday, October 28, as the pair saddle up for the big challenge.

The ‘Hill to Hill’ Hill-o-ween challenge will mark, with a sprinkle of magic dust, the eighth annual ‘Up the Hill for Jack and Jill’ fundraiser for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation hoping to inspire the public to see what they can do to help raise funds.
