Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts tells Loose Women she hopes to be told she's 'cancer free' in six weeks

Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts has shared an update on her health and revealed her hopes to be declared 'cancer free' when she has a scan in six weeks' time. The former I'm A Celeb contestant told the Loose Women panel and viewers that she had her final batch of chemotherapy on Monday.

The 43-year-old joined Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, Jane Moore and Janet Street-Porter in the Loose Women studio to talk about her bowel cancer diagnosis and treatment. The radio presenter first spoke out about her diagnosis in October, telling her followers on Instagram.

Adele told the panel it had been "an amazing week". She said: "It feels wonderful to be here with you ladies and yeah on Monday, I had my final batch of chemotherapy. It was December when I started. And it's May now. It felt like it was never going to end and every cycle I had it built and built and got sorer and sorer but we're there now, we've done it".

Jane Moore asked what the next step was for the star after finishing her chemotherapy, "So in six weeks," Adele explained, "I'll have a scan and then hopefully I am cancer-free. That's when I'll get the final OK, hopefully. Fingers crossed."

Since her diagnosis, Adele has been using her platform to raise awareness and sharing her journey with her 183k followers on Instagram. "I had no idea about bowel cancer before I got it. When I went to the toilet I started to notice mucus and then the mucus started to get blood in it... I thought it was something I'd eaten. My girlfriend thought it was because I eat kale a lot".

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 12.30pm.
