A racing driver who undertook cars in his dad’s 208mph Bentley GT has been spared a driving ban.
McLaren Racing driver Lewis Proctor already had six points on his licence when police caught him driving the £210,000 supercar carelessly.
Proctor – who lives in a £2million mansion near Aberdeen – tried to nip ahead of queuing traffic on the A90 between Dundee and Perth last September.
The British GT driver then pulled back into the outside lane and braked sharply to avoid a collision.
Proctor, 25, was given three points and fined £600 after he admitted driving without care and attention.
Defence solicitor Pauline Cullerton told Perth Sheriff Court: “He became rather impatient and undertook" before moving back to the outside lane.
"His speed would have been 70 to 75 mph.”
Proctor admitted driving at excessive speed for the conditions, undertaking and re-entering the carriageway before braking heavily.
Fiscal depute Elizabeth Hodgson told the court: “At 10.05 am on 10 September police were positioned on the slip road with the B953.
"Traffic flow was moderate to heavy.
“Officers observed the flow of traffic increasing, with the majority of vehicles in lane two due to a slower moving vehicle in lane one.
“They observed a black Bentley GT appear in lane one and undertake a Tiguan and a CRV before cutting back to lane two, where it braked due to heavy traffic.
“It drew their attention. They were unable to obtain a lock on the speed detection device. Police moved off and activated emergency lights to catch up.
“The accused remained in lane two, impeded by slower traffic.
"As the traffic cleared, the vehicle increased its speed before taking notice of the blue lights.
“The accused slowed and moved to lane one. He was signalled to stop and he did.
"He was the sole occupant of the car and admitted carrying out the undertaking manoeuvre.”
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton, defending, said: “He is a first offender. At the time he had six live points on his licence.
“He was driving in the outside lane and there were two cars in front of him in the outside lane which were travelling at around 60 to 65 miles per hour.
“They weren’t moving back to the inside lane. He became rather impatient and undertook before moving back to the outside lane. His speed would have been 70 to 75 mph.
“The Bentley was his father’s car. It is his father’s company he works for. He has no previous convictions.
"He can pay a fine in three months.”
Sports car driving Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed three penalty points and fined Proctor £600.
He described the car as a “fast machine.”
Lewis Proctor and his father Stewart are reigning British GT3 Silver-Am Silver-Am Champions and are driving a £440,000 McLaren 720S this season for the Greystone GT racing team.
