West Side Story is expected to clean up at the Oscars next weekend but the show's lead star Rachel Zegler is set to watch on from the comfort of her couch after apparently being snubbed from the ceremony.
Unfortunately for the 20-year-old star it seems as though she's been shunned from the show-stopping event despite the production being up for a number of gongs.
She made the startling announcement on Instagram over the weekend when a fan suggested they couldn't wait to see her red carpet outfit for the 94th edition of the annual Academy Awards.
When the actress posted a reel of selfies to Instagram, one of her followers cutely commented: "Can't wait to see what you'll be wearing on Oscar night."
And it was then she shocked onlookers by announcing she won't actually be in attendance as things stand.
The star responded: "I'm not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend's flannel."
She went on to describe in a bit more detail what was going on after admitting she had desperately tried to be there for the star-studded event.
Rachel continued: "I hope some last minute miracle occurs and i can celebrate our film in person but hey, that's how it goes sometimes, i guess."
She then added a message of thanks for those who supported her and shared in her outrage at being overlooked for the guest list.
Her omission comes as co-star Ariana DeBose goes into the event as favourite to win Best Supporting Actress, while the film's director Steven Spielberg is in the running for Best Director.
Not only that, but the actual film is even in the category for Best Picture, meaning Rachel missing out is a crying shame.
The official list of attendees hasn't actually been released by the Academy, so Rachel could yet see her name appear.
While the West Side Story cast is a big one, missing out the lead actress would certainly come as a surprise - especially as she seems to be ready and waiting to make her move.
She's also been at two other award ceremonies with fellow cast mates after going to to the Critics Choice Awards and the BAFTAs in London.
The Oscars has been tipped to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dish out an award at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood next Sunday.
It is suggested the couple will announce the winner of the Best Picture Award – which is the top gong of the night and is traditionally reserved to be revealed at the end of the ceremony.
