Rachael Blackmore got her 2023 off to a perfect start when she guided Minella Indo to a thrilling New Year's Day victory at Tramore.
The win gave Henry de Bromhead his second victory in the race after Champagne West’s success in 2017. The win wasn't without drama though, as Willie Mullins trained Stattler jumped well and put it up to Minella Ind throughout.
Blackmore held on though to end Mullins' domination of the event. In the last 10 runnings, Mullins had won on eight occasions and was in the middle of a five-year winning streak before Blackmore's win for de Bromhead this afternoon.
