Race Across the World is back on BBC One and the third series sees five pairs attempt to race to different destinations in Canada with no mobile phones, no pre-planning and a limited budget. One pair, Tricia and Cathie - who are race leaders after episode 3 on Wednesday, April 5 - have been praised by viewers for the lovely dynamic between them.
Cathie, who is a pharmacist from Bridgend, and Tricia have a very close friendship and have supported each other throughout the ups and downs of their travels so far. Cathie previously struggled as they attempted to find a car share while stuck in the Canadian wilderness and in the latest episode Tricia broke down when faced with travelling on a gondola high in the skies.
An emotional Tricia, who is visually-impaired, was comforted by Cathie - you can read more about her here - as she panicked outside the gondola. Cathie calmed her down and told her how amazing she was and soon the pair were travelling to the top of the mountain together where they discovered they had retained the first place they first claimed in episode two. Viewers are loving watching the close bond between the women. One said: "Cathie and Tricia on Race across the world are brilliant" with a red love heart emoji. Another said: "Cathie & Tricia are friendship GOALS". A third added: "Am watching Race Across the World series three whilst revising. Are Tricia and Cathie the sweetest duo to date? I think yes".
Holding Tricia's hand, Cathie guided her onto the gondola, saying: "You are going to be fine, look at me, I believe in you." A tearful Tricia replied: "I know, I just don't believe in me".
Cathie continued to reassure her friend, she said: "I have faith in you, you can do this" and while on the gondola, said: "I won't let you go." The women then found out they were still in first place and screamed and shared a big hug.
