Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani and his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch co-chaired Monday the 8th session of the High Joint Commission in Doha.
The two sides signed six agreements and memoranda of understanding in various sectors, including on cooperation in the fields of endowments and Islamic affairs, tourism and trade activities, as well as financial control between their audit agencies.
A Moroccan delegation was in Doha on an official visit. It included Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Tourism Minister Fatima-Zahra Ammor, Youth, Culture and Communication Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour, and Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Minister Leila Benali.
The two sides signed the 5th executive program of the agreement of cultural and artistic cooperation (2022-2025), the 3rd executive program in the field of youth (2023-2024), and the 2nd executive program of cooperation in the field of sports (2022-2023).
Qatar reiterated its full support for the territorial integrity of Morocco and the autonomy initiative as the basis for the settlement of the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
“Any solution to this issue can only be achieved within the framework of Morocco's sovereignty and the integrity of its territories,” Doha said.
Qatar welcomed the pioneering role played by Moroccan King Mohammed VI in consolidating the foundations of sustainable development in Africa and supporting the foundations of peace, security and stability in the continent, so as to meet its peoples' aspirations to progress and prosperity.
The two parties reiterated their commitment to joint Arab action as a suitable framework to consolidate the foundations of stability and permanent development in the Arab region.
“This also concerns developing mechanisms for Arab action in accordance with international economic developments and on the basis of solidarity and tangible cooperation to promote successful experiences and build together the future of Arab countries,” the Commission said.
Morocco praised the significant progress made in the strategic partnership between Rabat and Gulf Cooperation Council, calling for accelerating the development of its institutional framework and mechanisms.
