Every human being carries the awareness of death, yet most people spend their lives avoiding thoughts about it. We plan for tomorrow, chase achievements, build relationships and seek meaning, often pushing the reality of mortality into the background.
German philosopher Martin Heidegger challenged this way of thinking. For him, death was not simply the final event that arrives at the end of life. Instead, the awareness of death shapes every moment of human existence. His famous observation, “Man dies constantly until the moment of his demise,” captures a powerful philosophical idea: human beings are always moving toward death, and that awareness can transform the way they understand life itself.
